WHAT TO EXPECT

Strong Cabin is located in Hogback Ridge Park. There’s excellent hiking and biking trails nearby and a fishing pond on the property. Cornhole, KanJam, and Bocce will be available, but feel free to bring any other yard games you'd enjoy. You're also welcome to bring airsoft guns (no fire arms, please) if you'd like to practice your marksmanship. This year will feature both fishing and cornhole competitions, so bring your A-game!

Throughout each of the days, there will be some structured ministry-based group discussions. These discussions are designed to help you take a step and grow in your faith. New for 2026 are the Saturday morning breakout sessions. These small groups offer another option to help grow your faith as well as connect with others. For more details, please see the "About the Breakout Sessions" section.

ABOUT THE BREAKOUT SESSIONS

This year, you'll have the option to pick 2 breakout sessions to attend on Saturday morning. These sessions are designed to grow your faith and help you take a step towards becoming the man God created you to be. You can chose to attend one, both, or none of the sessions- it's entirely up to you and there's no pressure. There are 3 options to chose from;

• How do I talk to God? Learning about prayer.
• What is a hero? Reframing the heroes of the Bible.
• What does it take to grow your faith? How to bulk up your spiritual muscles.

You don't need to register for your breakout sessions. Just show up!

 

ABOUT THE SATURDAY ACTIVITIES

 

FISHING TOURNAMENT

A fishing tournament will be ongoing throughout Saturday morning and afternoon. Prizes for most fish and biggest fish will be awarded at dinner that evening. Please reach out to Bob Henry at kbbhenry@att.net if you have specific questions about fishing.

WELDING DEMO

What's more manly than (safely) playing with fire and metal? Learn some basics and try your hand at welding!

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

Find a partner and join the Cornhole Tournament! You're going to play anyway, so why not win a trophy? Incentive bonus: pick a partner who you didn't know before coming to the retreat and start with a 2 point lead!

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Is there a cost to attend?

Yes- there is a small fee to cover the cost of food and site rental. The cost is $10 for Friday and $15 for Saturday. You only have to pay for the time you attend. This fee is in lieu of each person bringing food to share and makes it easier for the event organizer to plan meals, snacks, etc. Scroll down to the “How to Pay” section for more details. If finances prevent you from attending, please reach out to Matt Dombrowski. We want everyone to come, regardless of ability to pay.

 

 

Do I have to stay the night?

No. You are welcome to come for any part of the weekend. You can also leave and come back later, if your schedule allows.

 

 

Where do we sleep?

There is space for 11 people to sleep inside the cabin, on bunk beds or couches. These spots are first-come first-served, based on sign ups. Please only reserve a bed if you plan to stay the night. 

Use the button at the bottom of the page to reserve your bed. Sign-ups open Monday July 27th and are not available before that time.

What should I bring?  

Bring anything you’d need to feel comfortable camping: fishing pole, yard games, pellet gun or Air Soft gun (no standard fire arms, please), camp chair, reusable water bottle, bug spray, etc.

If you plan to stay the night, bring bedding, a change of clothes, and basic toiletries.

 

 

 

How primitive is the cabin?

Inside the cabin, there is a half- bathroom (sink and toilet, but no shower) and a small kitchen with a sink and stove/ oven. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning if the weather gets too hot and you need to cool down. There is electricity/ outlets available, as well.
